currently {vol. 3}

thinking | that even when things feel so hard, time passes quickly and the sun comes out and you forget those hard times so easily. Riggs was sick all of last weekend and then cranky nearly all week while he recovered. Now Steve is sick, and mama is soooo out of patience. But yesterday during church I felt such a feeling of peace come over me, and I realized that it wasn't all so bad. I'm blessed to have a family who needs me, two little babies and a best friend/husband who look to me for so much love and comfort. It's a good feeling to be needed, even when at times, it can be very overwhelming.

| Motherhood is a choice you make everyday, to put someone else's happiness and well-being ahead of your own, to teach the hard lessons, to do the right thing even when you're not sure what the right thing is...and to forgive yourself, over and over again, for doing everything wrong | Donna Ball (from my sweet friend Nancy's instagram)

listening to | a lot of Brandi Carlile. and Coldplay. and David Grey. and A Fine Frenzy. The Brandi Carlile pandora station is pretty much on repeat around here right now.

watching | we got a Roku a few weeks ago and Steve and I have really been enjoying a History Channel show called Mankind: the Story of All of Us. we don't have any sort of TV service or even bunny ears, so it's been nice to enjoy a little more variety than netflix offers.

loving | fall. one of the great things about living in Alaska, fall comes on so quickly that you barely realize summer is over and then all of the sudden there's that crisp coolness in the air and half of the leaves are yellow and orange.

September is one of my most favorite months, and I've been spending even more time outside than usual because of it. yesterday we all woke up early after a very restless night of sleep for us parents (our kids seemed to have no problems sleeping away like little angels, at least until about 5:45, right when Steve and I were tired enough to get some good sleep, haha) and we tugged on our down jackets and warm cozy uggs (me not Steve ha) over our pjs and headed outside for a family walk in the early morning mist. what a perfect way to start the day, Steve and I both felt so refreshed and connected by the time we got home.

  6. I've never been to Alaska before, but it looks beautiful. A morning walk is the perfect way to start the day. I live in CT, so it's starting to get a little cooler here; although, we won't really see any color on trees for another few weeks. I love your quote about parenthood. Whoever said it's the hardest thing you'll ever love was so right!

  7. Yes! How I can relate to being needed and needed and needed and how very overwhelming it feels. I have to remind myself that I am incredibly loved and that I am so very lucky. Your family walk sounds dreamy! I love making those kind of memories and family connections. So special.

  8. Let's just say this New Jersey girl is super jealous of seeing all these mountains in the background of your beautiful pictures! Love what you said about being needed, its something that can be overwhelming at times, but such a privilege to be raising up these little ones. Stopping by from #currently! -Tiffany

  10. We haven't had cable or anything since we got married and just got a Roku a month or so ago. It's nice, but all the choices can be overwhelming after not having TV for a few years! Lol. I'll have to check out the show you mentioned. We're kind of nerdy and like History Channel stuff. ;)
