getting ready for Valentines Day

It's funny, I've never really been a huge Valentines Day person. Steve and I have never done anything crazy, to be honest I don't even think we've gone out to a romantic dinner once in the nine years we've been together, except for the first year. We are so lame!

But this year I've gotten into the V-day spirit and have been making little decorations here and there, which I'll share later. Today I wanted to share some of my favorite Valentines Day things from around the web.

one | this amazing felt flower garland from my friend Lena over at Root and Blossom. I am seriously in love with this and will be making it as soon as I can get to the fabric store (tomorrow?!). I think it's an adorable non-heart way to decorate for Valentines Day (even thought I love hearts). But also, I think it will be an adorable little decoration for our baby girls space after V-day is over.

two | this hilarious card from etsy shop Emily McDowell Illustrations. It's a sad but true fact that a few nights a week Steve and I are exhausted and climb into bed early to zone out on our phones 'together'. I know he'd get a kick out of this card :)

three | this sweet paper heart garland. It would be easy to make if only I had a heart punch...maybe I'll be looking for that tomorrow too?

four | this heart cake. I saw this on pinterest a while ago and thought it would be fun to try making a heart cake. Valentines day is the perfect excuse!

Do you decorate for Valentines Day? Feel free to share any Valentines related blog posts in the the comment section so I can visit!

  1. Ha! Alex and I never go out for Valentine's Day either. Everything is too crowded. We just like to cook dinner together and cozy up on the couch.
Also, I love that rose garland - so sweet for a little girl's nursery space! ;)

  3. Lovely tips for Valentines day. You dont need a heart punch. Just cut the hearts out of a colored paper. I did that last year, had red and pink one, and glued a string to the hearts to make a garland and it really looked lovely. The kids loved that :-)

  4. ah! I love all of these!! I would've spends all my time (were I to make a heart cake) filing down edges until my heart sized cake was the size of a cupcake... and it'd probably still be uneven. BRILLIANT! I love that garland too. so so sweet. That'd be sweet in a little nursery any time of year. great post!

  9. haha if I do get around to making it I'm sure it will be uneven but oh well. I am dying over the garland and plan on making it to use in baby girls side of the nursery for sure. So perfect!
