I've been slacking...

I've totally been slacking on blogging lately for some reason.  I guess sometimes I have so much I want to share on my blog and other times don't really know what to write.  Which I guess is sort of stupid since I have actually have a lot going lately.

Weather is definitely changing to be more winter like, and it has been very beautiful.  I am just so excited to see what Riggs really thinks about the snow.  Technically, he has experienced snow before...

(in the snow at one month old)

...but I just don't really think it counts since he had no idea what was going on.  Yesterday it was snowing when Steve got home from work and Riggs was so entranced with the snowflakes, especially when they hit his nose and hands.

Riggs has been sleeping better lately, going to bed between 7:30 and 8:30 and waking up around 8am.  He still wakes up a few times to nurse, but I don't mind.  I'm actually savoring it, since I can see the independence of toddlerhood looming a little too closely in front of me.  I'm in denial ha.  This morning we woke up right around 8am and the sunrise was so beautiful, I had to go out (in my spandex workout shorts, Uggs, and one of Steve's work sweatshirts.  I'm just glad no one happened to drive by and see that lol) and take some pictures.  The colors were so amazing and the light hitting the mountain and the trees was just magical.

In the last week, Riggs has really become quite a handful.  I thought crawling around the house at mach speeds was scary enough.  Hello, climbing!  Riggs is intent on climbing up anything that seems even slightly interesting to him.  He's still not very good at it though, and usually I look over to see him holding on for dear life, his pudgy little legs shaking, with a somewhat-uncertain-yet-still-determined look on his face and I rush over to make sure he doesn't fall and smack his head on our hard floors.   Of course I couldn't get a picture of him actually standing up, but I promise he does!  It's just so hard to capture that exact moment...

He is also obsessed with Tutka and will not leave him alone, poor guy.  Luckily Tutka is so, so patient with Riggs and will let him do just about anything to him (including taking his bone right out of his mouth - eww).  I'm so glad they get along so well, it is so fun to see them having such a great time together.

In other news, Steve is working all the time and it's finally catching up to me.  It's just so hard trying to squeeze everything we want to do as a family into one day.  And to put it simply?  I just really really really miss him.  Just him being here, in the house, in his chair, just hanging out.  Lately it's seemed like no matter how much I hang out with friends and family, or how much I skype my sister, I'm still lonely.  I tried just adding more things to do during the week and on Saturdays, but that just tired me out.  Finally I realized that I am lonely.  I'm lonely for the one person who I can't hang out with, and it just sucks.  I'm so thankful for his job and for the fact that he is such a hard worker who's willing to work such long hours for his family.

It's especially hard because I know he feels so much responsibility to provide for us and be ready for anything that could come along in the future, so when there's work he's ready to put in as many hours as are available.  And I feel ridiculous complaining because I'm not the one who's out there working all those hours (he never complains, ever).  It's just so hard and I feel like I need to vent here so that I'm refreshed and have positive energy for when Steve is home.  He is Riggs' and I's hero though and we miss him so much!  It sounds silly saying we miss him, when he is home every night, but Riggs goes to bed one hour after Steve gets home, and most of that time is spent in the shower (for Steve) or eating dinner.  And Steve is exhausted after working and commuting, so he's not exactly "all there" - haha.

It makes me even more excited for the holidays that are coming up so we will get more time with him!  It's always been my favorite time of year, and this year it is going to be extra special, because we will get more time as a family and Steve and I will get to enjoy watching Riggs experience the holiday season for the first time.  So exciting!

I actually have so much to look forward to in the next couple of months, a shopping trip in Seattle with my Mom in November, my little sister being home from college for a week, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and then - gulp - Riggs' first birthday!

Okay now I realize this is the longest post ever, so if you read everything - go you. ;)
