As the month wore on, I wondered whether or not I should get a pumpkin for Riggs. I thought it would be cute to get some pictures of him in his costume with a pumpkin for his first halloween. I went back and forth all month, then finally decided to pick one up when I was at the store last night. We dug into it this morning, and although it's not a work of art by any means, I'm pretty happy with it.
Maybe it would be helpful at this point to mention this was the first pumpkin I have ever carved. We did not celebrate halloween growing up (at least that I can remember) and I just never really had a reason to carve a pumpkin since moving out. It was pretty fun, and it was so cheery to see it on the porch this morning, with it's orangy-flickery glow.
just seeing that toothy grin made it completely worth it :) |
Riggs had fun playing in his costume but as it got closer to naptime, he went from a happy bat, to a confused bat (am I laughing, or crying?) to a very sad little bat. Even though I hate to see him cry, there's just something about that sad little face in a bat costume that brought a teensy little smile to my face.
