Girdwood Getaway

This weekend has been a blast! Steve and I headed to Girdwood to stay at the Hotel Alyeska for the weekend, and it has been so relaxing. Steve has been at Avalanche School both days, while I have been lounging around doing homework and daydreaming. I arrived at the Hotel yesterday with Kelsey and the boys; we swam the afternoon away and then waited for Steve to get back from Turnagain Pass for dinner. After dinner, K and the boys headed back to Anchorage while Steve and I headed down to the health spa to enjoy the sauna and the hot tub. The sauna was AMAZING. Funny thing is, we were both so tired that we were asleep by 10! But we slept so soundly that we were actually happy to get up at 7 so Steve could hit the road by 8 headed for Turnagain. I enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the Pond Cafe, and will spend the rest of the afternoon doing homework! It is starting to snow and is so peaceful here. Hope everyone else's weekend was good and included at least a few moments of peace :)

Christmas Eve

I cannot believe that tomorrow is Christmas! It seems like last Christmas was just yesterday. I am so thankful to be celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, Gods precious son, and cannot help but love this holiday most of all. This holiday season was especially special and full of reminders of the power of God. The total lunar eclipse was an amazing display that brought attention to how magnificent Gods creation truly is.
Steve and I stayed up and made numerous trips outside to observe the progress of the eclipse. Looking through Stevens binoculars the breathtaking beauty of the moon was even more apparent. My picture is a cell phone pic and does not even begin to do the whole process justice.
When not at work I have been baking up a storm and spending time with family as much as possible. Last night Noah spent the night with us and it was a great time as usual.
We went and looked at lights this week which was very fun and enchanting.
I hope and pray that all my friends and family have a peaceful and joyful Christmas and remember the life that we are celebrating.

February 8th

I woke up today peaceful and thoughtful. What a luxury to spend an hour under my warm covers thinking reminscing and thinking about the future. How cozy to be the only one awake, listening to the sleepy breathing of my husband and the dogs, and of course the constant purring of Queen Annabelle. Silently reading some of my favorite blogs, reading about the blessings and trials of mommyhood, I wonder what I will be writing about my own children in the years to come. I ache for that time, for the time when I will have my own beautiful little gifts from God to cuddle, laugh and sometimes cry about. I try to imagine how it will be, all the while knowing that my wildest dreams won't even come close.
And now when my mind should be filled with the significant historical events of the Qing Dynasty, all I am filled with is awe at the beauty of the sky this morning and the fresh snow that for some reason reminds me of spring.
