about me

I'm Whitney, a life-long Alaskan and outdoor-enthusiest living on the shores of Kachemak Bay in Homer with my husband, Steve, our two kids and a black labrador named Tutka. I'm a part-time writer and stay at home mama to our son Riggs, who came into this world during a blizzard on the morning of January 12, 2012, and our daughter Raina, who was born on an unseasonably warm and sunny July 2, 2014.

Steve's a journeyman power lineman with the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers. He's worked all over the state, from Point Hope to Juneau, and is now working on his hometown grid, which includes Homer and a number of other communities scattered around Kachemak Bay.

We live in a 28' Airstream on five acres of fireweed and spruce covered land up on the hill above Homer and are working towards our own personal version of the simple homestead life.

    1. Hi Nancy, glad you came to visit! My father-in-law had heard it before and suggested it to us when we told them we were pregnant. It just sort of stuck with us and it was the only name we could choose when we found out he was a boy. It fits him so well!

  14. Hi Whitney! I love your blog!! Your son is adorable (weird question but by any chance was his name inspired by Tim Riggins on Friday Night Lights because that would be awesome). Anyway, I too am a new mom living in Alaska. I'm new to the blogging world and would love for you to take a look. http://alaskanpanda.com/

  21. Hubby Steve is incognito for a reason. He used perform fellatio on dudes in restroom stalls. He once came running out, cum mustache and all, when he thought cops were coming in to bust him.
